While Avengers: Age of Ultron divided us at FTN, with some thinking it was great and others thinking it was disappointing – I’m in the second camp, believing it was full of unresolved plot points and was rushed to the point of being a mess in places – we were all looking forward to the oft rumoured Director’s Cut from Joss Whedon…
And maybe we shouldn’t hold our breath.
Speaking at a panel at Nerd HQ, Whedon seems to have shot down the Director’s Cut rumours once and for all: “The first time I ever heard a re-mix, I was 13 and I was listening to the radio. I heard a song that had been re-mixed and it freaked me out so much that I turned off the radio and never listened to it since, literally. That is an actual truth. I felt like, “Wait, that was the song. You can’t do that.” Our entire culture consists of doing exactly that, but I’m not for it. If I tell a story, I want that to be the story I told.”
So, this may well be the final word on tho matter, from the man himself. But, while we love Joss Whedon a lot, we reckon he’s wrong on this one.
What do you guys think?
