Joss Whedon told Marvel’s Kevin Feige about the Batgirl deal before anyone else knew

April 18th, 2017 by Marc Comments

So a few weeks ago we got the news that Joss Whedon had signed on to make a Batgirl movie with DC/Warners.

But before we learned about, it seems Marvel boss Kevin Feige found out… from Whedon!

Whedon had of course made Marvel a heap of money by writing/directing Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as working on several of the MCU scripts and treatments however it was no secret that he was very unhappy making Ultron anf has soured a little towards Marvel.

But it was still surprising when he moved to DC/Warners: “He called a couple months ago, which he didn’t have to do and was super cool of him and super nice of him,” said Feige.

“And we couldn’t be more supportive. We want to see a Joss Whedon Batgirl film be awesome.”

So there you have it. We like to think that, despite the obvious rivalry, Feige would genuinely be excited for DC movies and vice versa.

It also puts some credibility to the Whedon story as many still believe it’ll never happen as DC/Warners’ record with directors isn’t the best.

But as for now, Whedon is definitely on board with Batgirl.
