Kathleen Kennedy draws a line under further versions of the Original Star Wars trilogy

April 25th, 2017 by Marc Comments

It seems we can finally settle down and just accept it… Han didn’t shoot officially.

Because the version of the original Star Wars trilogy that was released last is not the final version of the original movies.

So everyone just simmer down.

Speaking to Omny FM, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy was asked if Disney would be tweaking the original trilogy any further than they were down under George Lucas and her answer was pretty final: “I wouldn’t touch those, are you kidding me?,” she said, “Those will always remain his.”

His, of course being George Lucas.

So it looks like all the rumours of Disney releasing the original theatrical cuts of the movies or further specialised versions are all nonsense.

However, does her comment mean Lucas himself can release them as he chooses in the future? We doubt he’d even mess with them now if he wanted to.

Bottom line reading this? It means that the Ewok number will always be different, Greedo will forever shoot first and Cloud City will remain massive…

I know I seem to be the only person in the world who loved the Special Editions (well, minus the Greedo scene) but I’m ok with this.

Are you?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
