Kevin Smith confirms Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck Batman movie IS happening

April 10th, 2016 by Marc Comments

So, you know the Ben Affleck standalone Batman movie that we keep hearing so much about?

Well, the man rumoured to be working on it with him is DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and now uber-nerd Kevin Smith says Johns has confirmed the standalone movie IS being worked on.

Speaking on the latest episode of his ‘Fatman on Batman’ podcast (check it out below – very NSFW), Smith said to to co-host Marc Bernadin : “[Ben Affleck has] been working on a solo script with Geoff Johns as well. Last conversation I had with Geoff Johns I was like are you working on it? and he said ‘Yeah,'” claimed Smith. “I said, ‘What’s it like man, how do you co-write with someone?’ and he’s going ‘We just break it up, he takes halves and I take halves and then we write, and then we switch material, and then he goes over mine and I go over his.’ That sounds so f-ing fun, man.”

The rumours of the two working together was fired up even more when DC/Warners announced a mystery DC movie last week, leading many to believe that the standalone Batman movie is coming…

What do you guys think?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
