Kevin Smith reveals filming date for Jay & Silent Bob Reboot (that’s the movie name, not what’s happening the characters. Probably)

July 24th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Well, it looks like we’re definitely getting a new Jay and Silent Bob movie.

Yes, Kevin Smith, Silent Bob himself, has confirmed that the new movie will be a direct sequel to Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and it will be called Jay & Silent Bob Reboot as we reported in February.

And the actor/writer/director knows when it’s happening: “The next thing we are doing in October is we start shooting a sequel to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. It is called Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.”

In the previous article we reported that Smith said that he was bringing back Jay & Bob because everything else is owned by other people:

“Yes, Kids – Jay and Silent Bob are coming back! Here’s the story: Sadly, Clerks III can’t happen (one of our four leads opted out of the flick). So I worked on a Mallrats movie instead… which also didn’t happen because it turned into a Mallrats series… Since I sold Clerks and Mallrats years ago, they’re owned by others, which limits my moves with my own material. I don’t mind: back in the day, all I ever wanted to do was sell my stuff so I could be in the movie biz in the first place.”

As for the return of Jay & Bob? Well, here’s the story that we know so far:

“[Jay and Silent Bob Reboot] is a fun flick in which the Jersey boys have to go back to Hollywood to stop a brand new reboot of the old Bluntman & Chronic Moviethey hated so much. It’s a tongue-in-cheek, silly-ass satire that pokes fun at the movie business’s recent re-do obsession, featuring an all-star cast of cameos and familiar faces! And I already met with the good folks at Miramax and they’re into it, so I’m hoping we’ll be shooting in the summer! Never give up, kids. You CAN do anything you want in life, so long as you’re patient and malleable.”

Smith also said at SDCC that Stan ‘the man’ Lee will be in it.

Good enough for us.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
