Kiersey Clemons’ Iris West being recast for The Flash movie?

May 1st, 2020 by Marc Comments

You may recall a few weeks back a really bizarre video of The Flash star Ezra Miller appeared online in which he appears to choke out a fan.

The video, below, was rumoured to be likely to lead to Miller’s recasting as the DCEU’s fastest man alive AKA Barry allen. Now, while this hasn’t happened – at least not yet – a new rumour has appeared online that it may in fact be the love of Barry Allen’s life, Iris West, who will be recast.

Yes, it seems that actress Kiersey Clemons, who played Iris in the Justice League albeit in deleted scenes, is looking likely to not be returning to the role.

As per this report, the movie now being directed by IT’s Andy Muschietti with Christina Hodson has ut out a new casting call for an actress 21-25 years old to play a 23-year-old Iris West.

The character is described as “smart, bold, always with a cellphone in hand. She’s an energetic, and perhaps over-caffeinated, tenacious cub reporter for the Central Citizen. She can be a bit over the top, but despite her idiosyncrasies there is something about her that draws people in. She is additionally described as having the fashion sense of Carrie Bradshaw and the smarts of Christiane Amanpour. The Central Citizen is described as a modern 21st century style newspaper, which is perfect for the stylish, bright eyed young reporter.”

Despite never officially playing the role in scenes that made it to screen, Clemons has become a fan favourite just from what has been seen in deleted scenes and behind the scenes content.

There’s no word on why she’s being recast but, if this turns out to be the real deal, it’s likely to put more DC fans’ noses out of joint.

Let me know what you all think.
