Lance Reddick wants to be Black Panther’s predecessor… Marvel, are you listening?

We’re such big fans of Lance Reddick – his work on The Wire, Fringe, Lost (Mr Abaddon is awesome!) and TRON: Uprising is among our favourite genre TV, so the idea of seeing him in either the Marvel or DC cinematic universes just seems… right.

Talking to IGN (full interview below), the actor said he would love to play T’Chaka, Black Panther’s mentor/father or even, just hopping over to DC, playing Martian Manhunter would be a dream come true: “I’d love to play T’Chaka… if it’s an origin story. I’d also love to play the Martian Manhunter. And if we’re talking dream roles, John Stewart would be great too. [But] if I get Martian Manhunter, [Tyrese] can have Green Lantern [laughs].”

Reddick clearly knows the story with Gibson’s campaigning for the Lantern role (here).

T’Chaka is the current Black Panther’s father and predecessor who also fought alongside Captain America in the 1930s and ’40s. So, yeah, we’re very OK with this idea. Either idea, actually…

What say you?

Black Panther is set for a November 3rd, 2017 release.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
