Some fun Ghostbusters news for fans of the 1984 original today, gang.
So, obviously, when you think of Ghostbusters, you think ‘who you gonna call?’ and that’s from Ray Parker Jnr’s now iconic Ghostbusters theme song.
However, before Parker Jnr came onboard, there was another song in the running to be the theme for the movie – but it’s not the one fans will recall from the movie’s first trailer.
A musical project by the name of Hughes/Thrall were hired to develop the theme song and now, thanks to Pat Thrall on Soundcloud, below, the never-before-heard song is now out there for the public to hear.
According to Thrall: “This is the demo Hughes/Thrall and Peter Aykroyd pitched for the movie. It was declined. There has a been a version posted on YouTube claiming to be the HT demo but it wasn’t. Here for the first time it is finally posted. The guy that mixed it had been awake for a week on cocaine. It is one of the worst mixes ever”
You gotta love the excesses of the 80s, huh?
Thruthfully, it is pretty bad… but then, nothing could imaginably top Parker Jnr’s theme song.
Anyways, have a listen below and let me know what you all think.
