Live-action Mortal Kombat movie finds first big cast members

August 27th, 2019 by Geralt of Australia Comments

New news coming out of my home town in South Australia as a handful of people have been cast for main roles in the up and coming live-action Mortal Kombat movie.

Liu Kang, Jax, Raiden and Mileena have all been cast with Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tadanobu Asano and Sisi Stringer taking the respected roles.

Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, he’s no stranger to playing the action role, featuring as the Black Ranger in the 2017 Power Ranger reboot along with playing Captain Murk in DC’s Aquaman. He’ll be joined by Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, he was Thor’s friend Hogun who featured heavily through the standalone movies.

Mehcad Brooks has most recently been spending time in the DCEU as James Olsen aka Guardian in Supergirl, he’s used to wearing a lot of armor for his role, so he should enjoy only having to have his arms wrapped for this. Sisi Stringer is rounding out the additional members with this being the first role for the unknown Aussie actress.

These four will be joining Joe Taslim (Star Trek Beyond, Fast and the Furious 6) who will be portraying Sub-Zero, a certain must have for the movie.

There aren’t any details on story-line for now other than it should be in keeping with the first game, and with James Wan (Saw franchise, The Trench) producing and something that guarantees to have an R18 rating I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what can come out of this so stay tuned for more details.
