It’s safe to say that, while we’ve been reporting on it for a while, we thought the Highlander reboot was dead in the water once director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan made The Huntsman: Winter’s War and not the return to the Highlands of Scotland to meet Connor MacLeod again.

However, the director has been talking about the movie and confirms it’s still on his ‘to do’ list:  “As far as I know… I’ve been working on this movie for quite a while. I’m still involved in it, very much so. In fact, I just talked about it yesterday with Lionsgate. You know, there are going to be some surprises there, for sure. I’m going to say that it’s very close to the original story, but there will be surprises.

“The characters you love in the first movie are back. There are definitely some changes, for sure.”

And that’s all we got. With the recent spate of reboots – Point Break, Robocop, Ghostbusters  -we’ll not be sorry of the original is left to exist in the little ‘cult’ statue bubble it has blown for itself.

Maybe some of you guys want to see a reboot? Because, what, seven movies, a TV Show and animated series weren’t enough, huh? Anyway, let us know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
