A cool little easter egg for fans of Star Wars Resistance today, gang.
So, you may recall that in the final act of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ships from all over the galaxy (14,000 in all) came together to battle the risen Emperor Palpatine’s fleet of planet destroying Star Detroyers.
In there we’ve spotted ships from all over the Star Wars universe including Rebels, The Mandalorian and the video games, but we didn’t see these the racers from Resistance.
But they were there.
The official Star War website, and Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group, reports that “Well, one thing we do know is that among the 14,000 ships that arrive with Lando Calrissian over Exegol in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker are the Fireball, Jarek Yeager’s racer, and Torra Doza’s ship.”
So, yup, in the battle are the characters from Resistance. So, that’s just another reason to own it on blu-ray when it comes out and pause frame-by-frame.
Oh, for the record, it also seems that Nien Nunb – the co-pilot of the Millenium Falcon in Return of the Jedi – died in that battle too. Shocking that the new trilogy would complete disrespect an original trilogy character, I know, but here we are…
RIP Nien Nunb:
