Even though he’s known for his turns as a villain in stuff like Casino Royale and Hannibal, Mads Mikkelsen has now made it clear that his character in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is not the villain. However, that’s all he’s saying about it for now.

It was probably because of his roles as Hannibal Lecter or Le Chiffre, but when Mikkelsen’s appearance in the first Star Wars spinoff film was announced, we all sort of automatically thought he would play the bad guy. Shame on us for stereotyping.

When recently talking to ekstarbladet.dk (via Squareeyed) the actor opened up about the role, but only briefly. “No, my character is actually not a bad guy,” he said, “and then I can not say more.”

Straight and to the point, that’s why we love you Mads.

(We want to note that that is a rough translation, so don’t shoot the messengers if it isn’t 100%, but you get the general idea.)

There is still a lot of mystery surrounding Rogue One, with no sign of a trailer just yet, despite its release in December this year. We do have a mix of hearsay, speculation and straight up fan theories regarding the setting, characters and its possible connections with The Force Awakens though
