Marvel are working on a Shang-Chi movie

December 7th, 2018 by Marc Comments

While little is known about the plan post Avengers: Endgame we do know that whatever happens will be worth waiting for.

We DO know Black Panther 2 is coming, as is The Eternals, Doctor Strange 2 (Doctor Stranger!) and Black Widow and it seems that Kevin Feige, whose goal is to have a fully realised and inclusive universe, is setting the path for a Shang-Chi movie.

Shang-Chi is, in the Marvel universe, one of the greatest fighters around, if not THE greatest fighter and is often dudded The Master of Kung-fu.

Wonder Woman 1984’s  Chinese-American screenwriter Dave Callaham will be handling the script and Marvel is searching for Asian and Asian-American filmmakers to direct and are hoping that, as with Black Panther, the character’s relatively low-profile will not stop him becoming a phenomenon.

It will certainly be welcome – and interesting – to see how Marvel develop a property like this in the MCU but, as always, we’ll be watching with great interest and anticipation.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
