Marvel wants Netflix’s Punisher and Daredevil in the MCU asap?

Sometimes you hear a rumour that you really just need to be true.

Word on the nerdsphere is that Marvel wants Punisher and Daredevil in the MCU as soon as possible. And not new versions, but they want Charlix Cox as Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil and Jon Bernthal Frank Castle AKA The Punisher.

These two are, of course, the ones who played them in the ill-fated Netflix shows.

Now, I make no secret of making it known that I felt the Netflix MCU shows were wildly overblown and, for all the talent involved, they were – for the most part – pretty dire.

That said, as much as I loved Mike Colter’s Luke Cage or Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones and warmed a little to Finn Jones’ Iron Fist after The Defenders, I was completely invested in Daredevil and Punisher and out of all the shows, it was these that bothered me when they were cancelled.

Now however it looks like Marvel want to bring Cox in to the MCU and one possible way is as Peter Parker’s lawyer after he was outed to the world in Spider-man Far From Home – although they could also bring in She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters, who is getting her own show on Disney+ and is also a lawyer in the Marvel universe.

As for Punisher, rumour is that Marvel want a Midnight Sons movie – a team made of off the more supernatural corner of the Marvel universe including Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, Morbius, Werewolf by Night, Doctor Strange and Ghost Rider – and that he may come in there.

Opening up this world could come from the planned Blade movie and would be a cool way to bring Punisher into the MCU proper… that said, it’s hard to imagine Netflix’s take on the character interacting with supernatural characters.

But it would be very, very awesome.

While I hope this is true, I could easily imagine these characters being recast rather than this sort of nonsense… but with the actors in the Netflix shows, it would be such a waste of talent and great casting – and that includes Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

Still, if it is true, it’s heartening to know that Marvel may still want to pull the universe back together.

Thoughts?
