Matt Reeves confirms Affleck is still Batman and that the movie will put the ‘detective’ in Dark Knight Detective

Riding high on the awesome reviews of War of the Planet of the Apes, director Matt Reeves is currently doing the whole press tour thing and, yes, the Batman movie is coming up as it’s his next project.

Firstly, before we get into the main story, Reeves has confirmed that Ben Affleck is still Bruce Wayne/Batman:

Ok, so on with the rest of the story.

Reeves has addressed the movie in a little more detail and it looks like he will really want to get at the side of Batman that we see very little of on the big screen… the Dark Knight Detective. Emphasis on Detective.

“There’s a chance to do an almost noir driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very very powerful way, that will hopefully connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside of his heart,” Reeves says of the movie.

Whenever we at FTN think of this version of Batman we thing of Year One, Long Halloween, The Killing Joke and even Arkham Asylum and, while we love the kick-ass version of Batman, it could be something special to see the detective out on the streets stopping bad guys with his brains and not just his fists and gadgets.

What say you all?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
