You may recall almost two years ago it was rumoured that Irish actor Colin Farrell was in talks to play John Constantine in Guillermo Del Toro’s Justice League Dark/Dark Universe (here)?
However, after Del Toro left the project the rumours – along with the movie – soon disappeared into obscurity, however it seems that now #OurConstantine Matt Ryan, who is currently the face of the paranormal investigator in The CW’s Arrowverse, has confirmed that yes, Farrell (“A friend”) did talk to Warner Brothers about the role and he even sort of leaves it open ended as per the report below:
From Matt Ryan, WB has had talks with Colin Farrell about playing occult detective John Constantine in the DCEU. This is mind blowing. It’s great WB has even approached Colin and we are on the same page because it’s perfect casting. pic.twitter.com/2TdNuPs7WF

Personally – and I know this isn’t a popular opinion with everyone – having see Farrell in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, among other recent performances, reckon that Farrell could do the role wonders.
It’s also encouraging that Ryan ends the comments with talk that Warners may still be after him; after all, we know that Doug Liman may still be in line to make JLD (here), so there could still be wind in the sails of this story, especially since there seems to be a big, renewed drive at Warners since Justice League failed to impress, well, anyone, sadly.
What say you all? Farrell for Contantine? Let us know…
