In the never-ending battle to make movie franchises, The Maze Runner took a stab at grabbing viewers attention. Though it didn’t destroy box-office records, it did well enough to secure a sequel: The Scorch Trials.

With expectations high, and the possibility of continuing the franchise (based on the best-selling books), 20th Century Fox has secured T.S. Nowlin to write not only the second movie, but the third one as well.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is in production now and is set to arrive on September 18. The third movie, The Death Cure, may not be to far behind that if the movie succeeds. If the trend continues, they’ll be able to complete the series with the fourth and final installment, The Kill Order.

This is a very different take than other movies have gone in terms of writers. The Hunger Games famously/infamously have had different writers for their movie installments.
