The Maze Runner sequel, The Scorch Trials, is coming to theaters September 18th. And today, we got the first look at the movie via an image that you can see above.
The sequel is set to be even bigger and bolder than the first. As the movie takes place more in the world the Gladers and WICKED live in.
“The first movie was the mystery of ‘Where are we and what is this place? And can we get out?’ But the second movie is about the repercussions of getting out and the discovery of what the world is actually like,” says producer Wyck Godfrey
For a more in-depth synopsis, look no further than the description from the book itself:
Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn’t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch. There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die. The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them. Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off. There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers’ destruction—and they’re determined to survive.
