MCU planned until 2025 already? Will we see more Korg and Valkyrie? Here’s all the MCU news you need

Ok, there’s a good chance there’ll be big spoilers in here, so you’ve been warned… although we reckon there’s three people in the world now who haven’t seen it, so we’re going to fire ahead.

With the epic ending of Avengers: Infinity War, we’ve all been wondering what’s going to happen next: time travel, misdirection?

Firstly, for the record, we think there’s a good possibility that the next Avengers could be called End Game.

Anyway, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have said that, although audiences think they know what’s going to happen next, they really don’t: “[Avengers 4] doesn’t do what you think it does. It is a different movie than you think it is. Also…[the deaths are] real. I just want to tell you it’s real, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you will be able to move on to the next stage of grief.”

Hmmmm… that’s interesting, isn’t it?

In related news, you may recall the movie opens on the refugee ship from Asgard with the survivors of the events of Thor: Ragnarok and it seems that, with the exception of Hulk, Thor, Loki and Heimdall, Thanos and his henchmen have killed everyone else – although Thor does say Thanos killed half his people later in the movie – but the topic come up at a talk given by co-director Joe Russo at his old school, the University of Iowa.

Many fans wondered what become of Valkyrie and Korg, two of the new fan favourites from Ragnarok; were they killed by Thanos? According to Russo, a large number of Asgardians escaped in escape pods and it seems that Valkyrie was on those, however he would not reveal Korg’s fate (continues after pic).

Dammit!

So, will the MCU continue after the fourth Avengers movie? Well, we know that MCU movies are already planned until as far away as 2015 – “We’re always thinking ahead. Just when people think they can pin us down, we go somewhere else and that’s going to happen again after ‘Infinity War’ in the build-up to the next Avengers film. And we had meetings earlier today about 2024 and 2025.” – , but that’s not to say there’s not an ending with the next Avengers. Marvel boss Kevin Feige has said in a new interview“It’s been done before in films where there are a finite number of books, and they finish telling the story for the books, so they come to an ending.

“Characters like Spider-Man or Batman or James Bond or Iron Man, who have been around for so long and are always refreshed in comic books or novels or movies, you don’t necessarily get that kind of an endpoint – and we wanted to do that, which is what these next two Avengers films are.”

He goes on: “It doesn’t mean the MCU is coming to a close, by any means, but it means the narrative that started when we began 10 years ago will have a conclusion.”

What? Well, we’re guessing the old team ie the first ones, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America etc, will have an ending in the movie… will it be deaths? Happily ever afters? Who knows… but it will be nice to see it all end before the new team pick up the flame.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot.
