We’ve thought for a while that a Thunderbolts movie was in development at Marvel as it really seemed a villainous super team was being put together and now it seems like we were right.
Robot & Frank director Jake Schreier has landed the gig along with Eric Pearson on writing duty.
In the comics The Thunderbolts are Marvel’s answer to DC’s Suicide Squad and word is this new version of the team will feature villains from throughout the MCU with Daniel Bruhl’s Baron Zemo leading the team made up of Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Yelena Bolova (Florence Pugh) and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) who has been seen on Black Widow and Falcon and the Winter Soldier pulling the strings to bring these guys together.
Word is that Marvel’s D23 event in September will see the movie’s official announcement.
This could be a fun road for the MCU to go down and there’s plenty of villains throughout the movies crying out to be used in better ways… I mean, Sam Rockwell is right there, Marvel! Come on!
Let me know your thoughts, guys.
