Last year we had Kurt Russell as Santa Claus in The Christmas Chronicles and next to step into the shiny boots and red and white costume is none-other than Mel Gibson.
The star is lining up Fatman as his next starring project to international buyers at the Cannes Film Festival this week.
Set to film early next year, “Fatman is the story of a rowdy, unorthodox Santa Claus who is fighting his business decline — while a neglected and precocious 12-year-old hires a hitman to kill Santa after receiving a lump of coal in his stocking.”
The movie will be penned and directed by Small Town Crime and Waffle Street’s Ian and Eshom Nelms.
The duo said of the project: “This rowdy Santa tale is a film we’ve been excited to make for some time and we’re thrilled to have equally passionate partners in Rough House and Fortitude who carry the same fire!”
Honestly, I’m a sucker for Christmas movies and as big fan of Bad Santa, Scrooged and The Christmas Chronicles, this may be just the dark streak I love my festive favourites to have.
