The Men in Black are coming back!
Yes, remember the Men in Black meets 21 Jump Street movie that was all the talk last year (here)? Yeah, well that’s not happening.
We will be getting a Men in Black spinoff on May 17th, 2019 (the same date as John Wick Chapter 3) and it will be penned by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum who wrote the first Iron Man and, em, Transformers: The Last Knight.
The spinoff will “build on the world from the first three Men in Black films and expand the universe to a global scale with new characters and new villains. The idea is something along the lines of how Jurassic World rebooted and sequelized the Jurassic Parkfranchise at the same time, and just as with that film, original stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are not expected to return.”
Producer Walter F. Parkes said: “It’s so rare to get to the end of the script and know you’re holding a movie in your hands – but Art and Matt have written a spinoff that somehow is true to the core of the MIB world, and yet expands the franchise to a fresh new place.”
So there you go. No Jump Street crossover and no Smith and Jones.
Can they deliver a Men in Black worth watching? We’ll just have to wait until May 2019.
What do you all think? Let us know…
