SDCC: Hugh Jackman confirms that next standalone Wolverine movie will be Old Man Logan

Well, it’s official. Ish.

Following the Deadpool and Fantastic Four panel at ComiCon, Fox ran a sizzle reel that finished with Hugh Jackman’s audition tape. After this, the man himself took to the stage and announced:

I’ve got three words for you guys – Old Man Logan. Read into that what you will.

Old Man Logan was a seven-issue series written by Mark Millar, set in a post-apocalyptic future where Dr Doom, Red Skull, Abomination and Magneto have conquered the United States and divided the territory up between them. While incorporating the changes in history might not be a problem with the aid of Shadowcat since Days of Future Past, the variety of super-villains used perhaps means that the rumoured Disney-Fox deal on the Marvel cinematic properties isn’t as far out as many thought.

Or they could just make up a couple of other bad guys. Plus ca change.
