New details on animated Batman: Knightfall mult-part movie revealed

October 11th, 2025 by Marc Comments

I reported on an animated Knightfall trilogy over a year ago (below) and now I have more details and a few amendments on that original story.

The event is now a four-part story, with the first part (and likely more), hitting next year, 2026.

The movies will tell the full Knightfall story, from the breaking of Batman by Bane, to the rise of a new Batman in the shape of Jean-Pual Valley and eventually, the return of the original Dark Knight: “When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.”

Animated Batman: Knightfall movie trilogy coming from DC animation

Robin in the story will be Tim Drake, the third Robin, and the story is expected to kick off a whole new DC animated universe, after the conclusion of the Tomorrowverse with the three-part Crisis story in 2024.

Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall is set to be directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams.

Knightfall took place across numerous DC comics in 1993-94 and was a massive event when it, alongside The Death of Superman, saw one of DC’s biggest heroes truly beaten. I remember the story being a definitive one in my early years as a comic book series and while The Dark Knight Rises incorporated some parts of the story, with Bane beating Batman, the full story has never been told outside of the comic pages

Now, if they could just mimic the artwork of legend Jim Aparro and Norm Breyfogle, this is be an adventure for the ages. Again.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em.

WATCH: Look out! The Supergirl trailer is here at last!
