New details on Justice League’s villain seem to hint at him being a major threat…

Some interesting new details on Justice League, or rather it’s villains, have appeared online.

In the comics we know that Steppenwolf, the big bad in Justice League and played (through motion capture) by Game of Thrones star Ciaran Hines, is the uncle of DC ubervillain Darkseid and it seems that that will hold true in the movie too. It also seems that Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) will be a part of the movie and will be working with Steppenwolf, despite previous rumours (here).

The most recent details from Hollywood Magazine reads (continues after pic):

[Steppenwolf is] the uncle of the universe’s greatest villain, Darkseid, and a member of his elite force, Steppenwolf survived a battle with Doomsday. That should tell you just how powerful he is. Aside from his strength and near-immortality, he’s also an expert tactician and wields a vicious electro-axe that can cut through just about anything.

Steppenwolf’s primary role is as the leader of the parademons, the storm troopers who seek to destroy in the name of Darkseid. His primary mission is to serve his nephew, and his status as the main villain in Justice League suggests the scope of the threat facing Earth, as well as the inevitable appearance of Darkseid himself.

Many have already complained that how could Steppenwolf have faced Doomsday since he was created and killed in Batman V Superman but we know that in Batman V Superman when Lex attained the knowledge from the Kryptonian ship it was established that Doomsday (as seen in the movie) wasn’t the first time ‘the abomination’ was unleashed… so Steppenwolf may have fought Doomsday, just not the one we’ve met already.

So Lex is back and in league (ahem) with Steppenwolf? And he seems to be a villain more than capable of battling the Justice League… what say you all?

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League will be released in theaters on November 17, 2017.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
