New details on new Predator movie including plot and title…

July 28th, 2021 by Marc Comments

We’ve known for a while that despite the unquestionable disaster The Predator was, we’re getting a new movie in the series now that Disney owns Fox (here).

In a conversation about new movie Jungle Cruise, producers John Davis and John Fox talked a bit about 10 Cloverfield Lane’s Dan Trachtenberg’s fifth movie in the franchise which will chronicle the first time the alien hunters ever visited earth – “It is… early”.

Talking about the movie, David confirms that it’s a female-led adventure and will harken more back to the original movie than subsequent movies have: “It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work. It’s the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force,” he said.

Interstingly, he goes on:  “It actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon.”

Is it possible that we will meet the Predators at an earlier point in their history where their technology isn’t quite as super cool at killing? Possibly…

Oh, and the movie is called Predator: Skull.

They confirm that the movie is three-quarters of the way finished but there’s still no word on when we’ll see any footage/images from Skull: “We started conceiving this movie while we were shooting the last Predator movie. Dan came to me with a writer and an idea while we were shooting the movie. Emma Watts was really instrumental here. She said, ‘you know what, let’s go put this into development now and let’s push on this now. Let’s go for this now.’ We couldn’t be shooting one movie and prepping another, especially when one was the current-day end of the franchise and the other was the period beginning of the franchise. So it was always done with a lot of secrecy. It just continued to be something that’s going to be out there to surprise you.”

Frankly, I’m amazed it got made given how bad the last movie was but a back-to-basics Predator movie sounds like just the ticket.

We’ll keep you posted when we hear any more on this one, gang.
