I reported a couple of weeks ago that Black Panther and Sinners director Ryan Coogler had finished filming his Pilot for his new X-Files reboot/sequel series and now I have some cool news about how and where we might get to see it.

World of Reel is reporting that while Hulu still hasn’t given it a full series order yet, there’s some nevertheless exciting details to be had.

The pilot, which Coogler wrote and directed, is over two hours long and was reportedly shot on 65mm film by Autumn Durald Arkapaw, who was the Oscar-winning DP on Sinners.

UPDATED: Ryan Coogler’s X-Files Pilot has finished and star Patel is chatting about it

Himesh Patel and Danielle Deadwyler

This is odd for a TV series and word is that Coogler has asked Disney if they’d consider releasing it on the big screen.

Yes, we might be getting a new X-Files movie after all, to launch a whole new series set in that world first created by Chris Carter in the 90s.

The Pilot stars Himesh Patel, Danielle Deadwyler, Steve Buscemi, Amy Madigan, Devery Jacobs, Tantoo Cardinal, Lochlyn Munro, Sofia Grace Clifton, and Joel Montgrand.

Thoughts on a new X-Files? I know you have them, and I wanna hear ’em all.
