We’ve known for a while that Willem Dafoe has signed on to the Justice League movie, although it’s a secret role all we know is he’s a good guy (here).

And, while we still don’t know who he is playing, Heroic Hollywood has, they claim, some details on the character he’ll be playing.

They report: “Willem Dafoe will be playing an atlantean according to Devin Faraci over at Birth.Movies.Death. Which atlantean, his sources wouldn’t say (though, per the earlier report, we know Dafoe will be playing a ‘good guy’), but either way, Mr. Dafoe will need to start practicing holding his breath.”

Now, we have no clue who he might be but we’re wondering if he could perhaps be the Geoff Johns created Atlan, The Dead King.

If you don’t know who that is, Comicvine describes him as such: “The Dead King was once Atlan, the Greatest King of Atlantis. He was betrayed by his brother Orin and by his people. They killed his wife and children and he and his loyalist were hunted was hunted. Within that time he forged the six artifacts of Atlantis with his arcane knowledge. He returned years later and without uttering a single word killed his brother and his queen and as Atlantis was plunged into a civil war he finally spoke after years of silence, “Let it all…die” and using his great strength sunk the great nation he had spent his lifetime building.”

The character was an Atlantean, he was a good guy, he’d be older than Aquaman and he’s created by Geoff Johns who is a guiding hand in the DCCU. We could be wrong, but it’s fun to speculate… plus we just can’t get our heads around Dafoe being a good guy.

They offer further details on how the movie will be dealing with the underwater scenes: “Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder are rethinking their approach to the underwater sequences involved in Justice League… they’ve developed a spiffy new rig in which the actor is suspended on a mechanical arm in front of a green screen while a camera on a second arm is programmed to move in sync with the actor’s movements. That’s silly too, but it’ll probably end up looking much better when the film is finished.

“Justice League will be using the same background replacement technology that Snyder used to give 300 it’s distinctive, hyper-stylized look.”

Whoever he is, it’ll be great to see the ex-Green Goblin in the ranks of the DCCU.

Do you agree? Let us know…

Justice League Part 1 will star Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman along with Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amber Heard as Queen Mera along with Willem Dafoe in a mystery role, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

It will arrive on November 10th, 2017.
