New images prove that The New Mutants movie is going to rock…

May 3rd, 2020 by Marc Comments

Has there ever been a movie as ill-fortuned as Josh Boone’s X-Men movie, New Mutants?

The movie was made by 20th Century Fox and then bought over by Disney and has now had four release dates and now, thanks to that damned virus, it doesn’t even have a release date and may end up of Disney+.

But the worse part? Every time something is released from it, it looks better and better.

I mean just look at the new images from this month’s issue of Cinefex.

The images, from top (below), show Anya Taylor-Joy’s Magik fighting Demon Bear in the hell dimension, Limbo, one of the film’s main antagonist.

The next image shows Dr Cecilia Reyes using her mutant power to generate force fields to hold the rest of the cast at bay.

The final images reveal the terrifying enemies, the Smiley Men and these guys are pure nightmare fuel.

The movie is based on Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz’s The Demon Bears Saga in which a spectral beast haunting Danielle ‘Mirage’ Moonstar catches up with her and she and her new mutant friends have to for a new mutant team to defeat it.

Director Josh Boone, a massive comic book nerd, said of the story: “We’ve changed stuff, we’ve really taken the characters we love from the comics and put them into our version of the movie because, if you just did it, it’d just be another X-Men movie.

“I just knew we always wanted to do the Demon Bear story, Knate [Lee] and I, my co-writer… And when we went to go tell Fox we wanted to do this movie, we made them a comic book, it was like a PDF that pitched them kind of a trilogy of films, each one’s its own unique kind of horror movie, the first one’s a supernatural horror movie.”

Whatever happens, word is Disney still want to release the movie on the big screen rather than send it to their streaming service, but honestly, I just really want to see this now.

The story of the New Mutants, a team of mutant heroes comprised of the first graduates from Charles Xavier’s school.

Starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga, Alice Braga

The New Mutants arrive… some time. Maybe on Disney+

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
