There’s nothing that can spark nostalgia quite like the endless list of brilliant 90s cartoons on Nickelodeon. There’s a channel called The Splat dedicated to showing the likes of Ren & Stimpy, Hey Arnold! & Doug, but things have just been taken to the next level.

According to Deadline (via Squareyed), Paramount and Nickelodeon are moving forward with a team-up movie involving the best-loved characters to be directed by Napoleon Dynamite‘s Jared Hess.

NickToons promises to have the vibe of that scene in The Avengers when The Hulk arrives to complete the line-up, except this supergroup will more likely feature characters like Nigel Thornberry, the Rugrats and Spongebob.

Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh! RealMonsters, and The Angry Beaversare all expected to feature, but Nickelodeon has a huge character library spanning 25 years to pick from so expect at least cameos from more. There’s endless possibilities here people.

Hidden deep in the woods, past the abandoned insane asylum and long-forgotten summer camp, off the old dirt road, across the creaky timber bridge, lies a log cabin. Under the full moon some have said they've heard blood-curdling howls from deep in the basement, though none have been brave enough to explore further... If they had, the shocking reveal would be that the screams come from old horror VHS tapes, accompanied by the maniacal laugh of Phil Robinson, brought on by comics and wrestling promos. The self-confessed "horror guy", he has also been known to talk about Spider-Man and heavy metal at great, unnecessary lengths. Yes, he knows he needs a haircut.
