No, Joaquin Pheonix’s Joker will NOT be going up against Robert Pattinson’s Batman

September 10th, 2019 by Marc Comments

After Todd Phillips and Joaquin Pheonix’s Joker took the Venice Film Festival by storm, rumours started circulating about how this might fit into the wider DC movie universe.

I don’t deny I found one I liked myself (here) but one of the more persistent ones seemed to be that this Joker would meet the new, upcoming Batman, played by Robert Pattinson.

But, it seems that this certainly won’t happen according to Phillips: “No, definitely not!”

Expanding on this, he on to confirm that this is one Joker but there are others, like Jared Leto’s, for example: “Oddly, in the states, comic books are our Shakespeare it seems, and you can do many, many versions of “Hamlet. There will be many more jokers, I’m sure, in the future.”

Personally, I’m glad these two won’t meet on screen as I want Joker to remain apart from he already established DCEU and to exist in his own little world. Will it stay that way? Who knows, but for now, that’s the deal.

Thoughts?
