Get ready for the new daily show

No, the new Planet of the Apes movie is not another reboot, so calm down

When news broke that Mazerunner helmer Wes Ball was handling a new Planet of the Apes movie everyone was wondering if it would pick up from the excellent recent Matt Reeves trilogy or if it would start the tale again.

And, as time went on, reports started suggesting that, as it’s current year and the way things go these days, yes, it would be a reboot.

Needless to say, as a big fan of the recent trilogy, this really ground my gears as they say.

However, it looks like all is not yet lost.

When a fan reached out to director Ball, asking if the series would be a reboot, he had this to say: “It’s never been easier for film journalists to actually get in touch with the actual people who actually know… but maybe it’s the point to NOT fact-check these days?

“Regardless. Don’t worry. I won’t ruin the surprises, but it’s safe to say Caesar’s legacy will continue…”

It should be exciting to see where the story fits and if we’ll be getting a CGI Charlton Heston any time soon.

Here’s the original twitter interaction:

Let me know your thoughts on this. Are you glad it’s not a reboot? Or would you have rather gone back to the start? Let me know, gang…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
