Finally! Hutch Mansell is returning to the big screen and we here at FTN HQ could not be more excited!
Yes, Nobody 2 has been greenlit and is going before cameras in just two short months as stars Bob Odenkirk and Connie Nielsen along with director Ilya Naishuller and writer Derek Kolstad set to bring the everyman assassin before the cameras in August.
The first movie starred Odenkirk as Hutch, a family man who after his house was broken into ended up getting tangled up with the Russian mob but thankfully he was not really the mild-mannered husband everyone thought he was and all hell broke lose… in the best possible way.
Yes, a John Wick and Nobody crossover could happen, says director
Writer Derek Kolstad is also the man who created the John Wick universe which made Keanu Reeves a household name again, so Nobody could certainly be on the precipice of a much bigger universe too, in fact, director Naishuller has hinted in the past that Wick and Hutch may exist in the same world: “I love when the people ask, ‘Is it the same universe?’ I’m like, ‘Alright, I can’t say anything. But what you could do is look at which studio made which movie and then think about the reality of doing a crossover,” he said.
This is a nod to the fact that Wick is by Universal and Nobody is by sister studio Summit Entertainment.
“That’s all I’ll say. I mean, everything’s possible. Stranger things have definitely happened, but… yeah.”
It wouldn’t be the first time we saw a couple of movie shocking us that they were actually part of the same reality with recent ones being Unbroken/Split, Abigail/Ready Or Not and Kingsman/Argyll all coming to mind, so it could happen and I’m praying it does as the John Wick world explodes with spinoffs.
We learned in 2021 that a sequel was being written as Naishuller said: “There’s plenty of stories that can be told in this world, with the character Hutch. I know that [writer Derek Kolstad] has begun work on the sequel.” Well, now it is happening and we couldn’t be happier.
Whatever happens, Nobody made a very unlikely action star out of Odenkirk and we can’t wait for more of the same.
Thoughts? Let me know all of them…
