Remember when we all knew the Pacific Rim sequel was called Maelstrom? Yeah, well, it’s not…

In a new update from Legendary Pictures it has been revealed that it, alongside the Godzilla sequel have new titles and they’re both pretty darned great and hint at the movies’ futures.

[New producer Herbert W.] Gains, who will report directly to Parent effective immediately, was an exec producer on such films as Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, The Judge and Watchmen. His responsibilities at Legendary will include overseeing production of its feature film slate including Pacific Rim: Uprising, Pokémon’s Detective Pikachu and Godzilla: King of Monsters. Gains will also work closely with the post-production team to ensure that the filmmaker’s vision remains intact through production to final distribution.

So, Pacific Rim: Uprising and Godzilla: King of Monsters.

Uprising could mean the rising of the Kaiju or the humans against them, while King of the Monsters, we believe, speaks for itself.

With Legendary building a new shared monster universe with both King Kong and Godzilla at the forefront, we’re still sorry that the Pacific Rim franchise wasn’t involved in that universe, but hey, a bunch of giant monster movies are coming and that’s more than good enough for us… no matter what the titles are.

Do you agree? Let us know.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
