Poison Ivy! Two-Face! Zsasz! The Court of Owls! Let’s dive into those big rumours about The Batman: Part II

July 12th, 2026 by Marc Comments

Ok, so we all know that Matt Reeves is currently shooting The Batman Part II, but as of now, we still don’t know very much about the plot- well, anything really- but today, we have a heck of a rumour that ties back into other rumours that are floating around too… this movie could be a big one, Bat-fans!

So far, we know that the cast will consist of Robert Pattinson as Batman, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Sebastian Koch, Brian Tyree Henry, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrell as Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez. We’re also hearing that Barry Keoghan’s Joker will return, although in what capacity is unclear.

Now, these leaks revolve around newcomers Johansson, Dance, Stan and Tyree Henry.

It was believed that Johansson and Stan were playing Gilda Dent and Harvey Dent, but it’s starting to seem unlikely that this is the case.

Major updates on The Batman Part II, including cast announcements

With Pictures appearing online of Stan sporting a bald head (here), fans started to speculate who he might be playing, with the popular opinion being the murderous Victor Zsasz, which would be an interesting choice, given that Zsasz appeared in the Birds of Prey movie but didn’t have the comic character’s ability to make his victims hallucinate things, allowing him to easily get closer for the kill. It’s also unlikely, given the ‘grounded’ feel of Reeves’ universe, that Stan’s take will either.

Now, the most interesting new rumour revolves around Johansson.

Tidbit:

Ever wonder what Tim Burton’s iconic Batman movie would look like if it was film noir?
Well, wonder no more:

Scooper Jeff Sneider last month reported that he heard a new DC TV series was in development based on Batman villain, Poison Ivy, though, at the time, he was unclear if this was a DCU show or set in the Reeves universe.

Well, now, we may have our answer.

A new leak has appeared on the DCULeaks subreddit that could be massive. A moderator on the subreddit sent proof of the rumour, so this might be one to take a bit seriously.

Megan Fox (’s agent) stirs up the Poison Ivy rumours again…

If Stan isn’t Harvey Dent, then Johansson isn’t Gilda… but she might be Pamela Isely, AKA Poison Ivy. But, don’t expect Ivy to be like her comic counterpart, able to control plants, including deadly and carnivorous ones, bit rather, this take will be ‘a serial killer obsessed with plants. She uses toxins. She’s after the character of Charles Dance,’

But why Dance? Well, according to this leaker, Dance’s character leads a secret organisation… the Court of Owls.

The leaker also confirms Stan as Victor Zsasz.

Longtime followers of The Batman and The Batman Part II will know that the Court of Owls has long been rumoured to appear in the overall story of this version of Batman.

This would lead into Ivy, much like Farrell’s Penguin from the first movie, getting her own series.

Interestingly, speaking of Penguin, while often teased, the second season of the critically praised series has yet to appear, and word is that someone high up at DC has been standing in its way, and this was part of the reason why The Batman Part II took so long to film because the second season was set to lead directly into the movie sequel… was Farrell’s Oz/Penguin set to cross the Court of Owls, perhaps?

But what about Harvey Dent? Dent was long-rumoured to appear in the sequel, and everyone assumed it would be who Stan was playing, but if he’s playing Zsasz, then who is Dent? Well, it seems this might be who Brian Tyree Henry is playing.

While not really rumoured, I would also be inclined to believe that this new movie will be setting up Keoghan’s Joker for a big role in the third movie… and speaking of the third movie, insider DanielRPK recently spoke in a Discord Q&A and revealed that ensuring Reeves’ Batman saga is a trilogy is a big priority got DC boss James Gunn and that is why Gunn is very reluctant to speak about the DCU Batman or The Brave and the Bold movie, because he does not want tow competing takes on Batman on the big screen at the same time: “I am told Brave and the Bold is not coming for years,” DanielRPK said, adding: “Gunn is pushing to get The Batman 3 out faster, he wants that trilogy over he wants to move on. Doesn’t want two Batmans.

Whatever happens, unless we get a new tie-in comic or novel, it’s likely that the next time we dip our toe into the Reeves Batman universe is when his sequel hits cinemas on October 1th, 2027.

So… does Bruce Campbell/Ash Williams cameo in Evil Dead Burn? I have the answer…
