QUICK MOVIE REVIEW: FTN reviews Monsters Inc 3D

January 19th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Monsters, Inc. (u)
Directed by: Pete Docter, David Silverman, and Lee Unkrich
Starring: Billy Crystal, John Goodman and Mary Gibbs
Running time: 92 mins

Monsters generate their city’s power by scaring children, but they are terribly afraid themselves of being contaminated by children, so when one enters Monstropolis, top scarer Sulley finds his world disrupted.

Monsters Inc. 3D is a re-release of the 2001 movie. It stars John Goodman as the voice of Sully and Billy Crystal as the voice of Mike. It was the fourth Film produced by Pixar.

Pixar have brought the magical Monsters Inc. to a new generation by re-releasing it in 3D. Sully’s fur looked so realistic in the original movie but I have to say the 3D really made it impressive… unfortunately that was as good as the 3D got for me. The movie is full of heart- warming moments and is also laugh out loud funny. It is timeless but if you have it on DVD then it’s not worth paying to see it in 3D.

For those who have never seen Monsters Inc. it is a good way of introducing new viewers to the characters before the release of Monsters University this summer telling the story of how Sully and Mike first met.

Did you know?

News leaked in early fall of 2001 that this movie would feature the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. Hundreds of Star Wars fans paid admission for the movie just to see the teaser trailer and reportedly some left after seeing it.
