Rebellion boss teases Dredd sequel may be back on as well as Mega City One series

We’ve been waiting a long time for an update on the Mega City One series ever since it was announced in 2017 (here).

We were excited to know that Karl Urban’s Dredd may be involved (here)and then we heard the pilot was written with two seasons planned out (here) and then.. nothing. In over three years. And yes, we do keep hearing it’s happening, Urban may still be involved and that’s about it. Over and over again.

But it seems that now, there could be movement imminent… once that damned virus goes away.

Rebellion Pictures’ CEO Jason Kingsley  has said that at least one if not more Dredd projects are ready to go once the world returns to normality.

“I want there to be a sequel [to 2012 movie Dredd],” he said.

“We’ve got the rights back so we can do it, we’ve just got to get rid of this virus thing that’s going on at the moment, and then hopefully things can kick off in all sorts of different areas of making film and TV, it’s just, it’s all very messed up at the moment for everybody.”

On the series, he goes on: “A lot of work has been done on all sorts of different scripts actually. So Mega-City One the TV show. Basically, we can’t go into production because of the [situation] and we’ve got scripts and everything is ready to go but the problem is, because of the [situation] and everybody’s funding changes and everybody’s shifting around.”

Dare we ask… will we see Urban back? “Well, if we can get people back, you know, we even joked that it would be quite fun to get Stallone back.”

A sequel to Stallone’s Judge Dredd? No joking, I’d watch it… but in all seriousness, a Dredd sequel AND Mega City One series? Could this be the next shared universe? Oh, please… let that happen!

Thoughts?
