Yes! Karl Urban confirms he is in talks to return as Judge Dredd in Mega City One TV series

August 8th, 2017 by Marc Comments

We have reported earlier that Karl Urban could appear in the Mega City One TV series as Dredd (here) and now it seems that the actor himself is ready to go!

Hell, yes!

At the recent Star Trek Las Vegas event the actor was asked about playing Bones in the JJ Abrams movies and about his role in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok and it was all pretty standard stuff, however it was when he was asked about the Dredd TV series that we pricked up or Vulcan ears!

In our earlier report producers Jason Kingsley and Brian Jenkins said: “We’re going to have some long and complicated conversations I would imagine, and we’ll see where we go. It’s too early to tell yet, but if we can use him and he’s available to us, then I think that would be absolutely brilliant.”

Needless to say, that got us excited, but wait until you hear what Urban said that the Trek event: “I am in discussions with them about that. I told them that if they write the material and give Dredd something to do and give him a function, I will be there. I would love to.”

So the pressure is on the shoemakers now, Urban is ready and willing… don’t screw this up! The idea of having Urban;’s Joe Dredd on TV every week is enough to make us feel a little giddy.

What about you?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
