Richard Donner says Lethal Weapon 5 is “coming up”

May 17th, 2018 by Marc Comments

It’s been a weird few weeks for Lethal Weapon with the TV series being renewed without Martin Riggs (here) – he IS the Lethal Weapon lol! – and now it seems that in the prime Lethal Weapon universe the real Riggs and Murtaugh AKA Mel Gibson and Danny Glover (above) may be set to maya return to the big screen together.

There has been lots of talk in recent years of a fifth Lethal Weapon movie (check it here) but it seemed that it may just be a pipe dream… but not director Richard Donner is saying it could happen.

While speaking on the recent instalment of Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast, Donner’s introduction has the host talking about Donner’s body of work and he mentions the four Lethal Weapon movies when Donner adds: “And 5 coming up!”

While the franchise was getting a bit tired by the fourth instalment, it’s hard to argue that Riggs and Murtaugh are one of cinema’s greatest duo and, even at its stalest, those movies were fun ad heck.

So were saying that, if Donner, Gibson and Glover are up for it, then please, please, please make it a thing… we need the magic back.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
