Riddick: Furya set to film next year?

October 19th, 2019 by Marc Comments

A few weeks ago Vin Diesel shared with his fans (here) that he had been given the finished script for the fourth (fifth is you count the animated Dark Fury) Riddick movie, called Fury.

And now it seems he’s getting ready to film.

Furya is the name of Riddick’s home planet in the Riddick universe and the script certainly indicates a return home for Diesel’s antihero.

And, it current rumours are to be believed, the movie is set to film in 2020 and David Twohy, the man behind the entire Riddick Saga, is to helm it once more.

Riddick is one of those franchises that everyone sort of forgets exists and then loves when they see it. The first movie, Pitch Black, is a fun sci-fi horror and the second, Chronicles of Riddick is a big dumb sci-fi auctioner, with Riddick – the third movie – sort of combining both… however, what they all are is windows into a crazy, over the top and lovingly created universe with Diesel’s implausibly tough Riddick at the centre of it.

I’ll be first in line for a flight to Furya if and when it happens. Will you?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
