Ron Howard has announced the official title of the Han Solo standalone movie

October 17th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Well, filming has wrapped on the Han Solo standalone movie and director Ron Howard has taken to social media as he is wont to do (see below).

However, in the announcement Howard also finally gave us the official title of the move:

Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Which is, let’s be honest, pretty much what we expected. Not that we don’t like it… but we’d hoped for Kessel Run: A Star Wars Story or, even better, Nerf Herder: A Star Wars Story. But, alas…

Anyway, what say you all?

Here’s the official word from StarWars.com:

It’s time to set your hyperspace coordinates.

In a surprise announcement today, director Ron Howard revealed the official name of the untitled Han Solo film: Solo: A Star Wars Story. The announcement came in a post in which the acclaimed filmmaker (with a little help from an anonymous Wookiee) thanked his cast and crew as principal photography wrapped.

Solo: A Star Wars Story, set prior to the events of the original Star Wars trilogy, is slated for release on May 25, 2018.

Just for the record, we called this waaaaaaaaay back in August when we had fun making this logo:

But here’s the official:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
