So we are loving the universe building going on in the Star Wars universe right now… Saw Gerrera crossing from Clone Wars to Rogue One and back to Rebels; Darth Maul heading to fight Obi Wan Kenobi, it’s all great stuff for us, the fans.

But now it looks like a new crossover between the movie and Rebels is coming… but it may not be as obvious as the ones above.

“It appears highly likely we will be seeing convorees in Star Wars: Episode VIII. The sources that got back to me so far have said that’s the gist of the design, however, “leave some room open for the animated shows’ interpretation.” Without having seen the designs myself at this point, I think that’s about as good as I can do to confirm we will see convoree in Star Wars: Episode VIII.”

The Convorees (above) are creatures that look like owls and have been around since The Clone Wars episode Padawan Lost and have appeared several times in Rebels and many believe they have some mystical relationship with Ashoka Tano after the finale of Season 2.

Now, our guess is if they appear it’ll be a little easter egg type nod for the hard core fans in the audience, but there’s always the chance it’ll be more. Dave Filoni, Star Wars Rebels executive producer and The Clone Wars supervising director, said of the creatures: “In some ways, I could say that it’s a messenger, it’s an observer. It is definitely something. And I would suggest – I would rather have fans debate – but I would suggest to say that whatever that thing is an avatar of has actually appeared in the animated Star Wars universe before.”

According to the rumour the creatures may be residents of Ahch-To, the island Luke Skywalker has been living on all these years and could have a connection to the Force and it may be a connection that Rey will have to become one with if she is to live on the island with him.

All speculation for sure, but the devil is in the details…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
