RUMOUR: Daniel Craig set to join the X-Men franchise as a major villain?

October 4th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Bond, Star Wars… X-Men?

If rumours are to be believed it seems that James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, is set to jump into the Marvel Universe over at Fox, playing one of the X-Men’s greatest villains.

The Gambit movie, which is still happening with Channing Tatum attached, has been looking for its villain and it has long been rumoured to be Mr Sinister who was set up in Logan.

The movie went through a big rethink after the success of Deadpool and Logan with the plot rumoured as follows:

Gambit is hired to do a job in Paris in which he has to steal something from the Louvre Museum. His mysterious employer is revealed to be Nathaniel Essex a.k.a. Mr. Sinister. He offers Gambit 40 million to recover a mysterious trunk that was stolen by the Boudreaux clan. It will be auctioned off during the yearly Thieves Ball where all the criminal organizations in the world meet up. It uses New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations as a cover. Gambit decides to enlist a crew of mutants to pull off this seemingly impossible heist…

Mr Sinister in the comics is a genetically altered human called Nathaniel Essex with telepathic powers allowing him to manipulate people and things. He’s really old and really powerful and is a fan favourite.

The rumour is that if he takes the role, we can expect to see him as a recurring villain across the X-Men universe… sort of like Loki or maybe even Thanos.

What do you all think? Craig for Sinister?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
