RUMOURS: Star Wars Episode VII title revealed? Rebels characters may appear in Episode VII?

May 6th, 2014 by Marc Comments

So last week there was a site claiming to know what the new Star Wars movie was called. But it didn’t. Now, however, a new rumour is taking off and it seems it may actually have a little weight to it…

Ain’t it cool – among others – is claiming to have heard from reliable sources that the current working title for Episode VII is… ready?

An Ancient Fear.

It’s a sort of flipping on the head of the original movie’s A New Hope. we’re not sure we like it. So we’re going to keep saying it’s nothing but a rumour.

The report from the site says that they reached out to JJ Abrams for a response but haven’t heard anything. According to Screencrush: “The title allegedly refers to Max von Sydow’s character, the overarching villain of the new trilogy.”

We’re still reckoning the actually title will be revealed at SDCC later this year, along with final casting news etc, but for now we’re going to file this safely under ‘Massive rumour’.

In other Star Wars news, Slashfilm chatted to John Morton (he played the pivotal role of Dak in The Empire Strikes Back, so clearly he’s in the know) who seemed to have a lot to say about Rebels, the upcoming animated series: “Rebels is the key. Rebels will provide the link to bring in the continuity from Clone Wars, the Original Trilogy and the Prequels to enable LucasFilm and Disney to tee-up Episode VII. If you want my informed opinion, it will enable ‘Episode VII’ to leapfrog over the whole trilogy. Rebels will set up and point the direction for Episode VII.”

However, most interesting was his statement that: “The characters they are creating in Rebels will be around in Episode VII.”

Seriously though, we’re going to go out on a limb here an question how – or why – Dak would be clued in on the upcoming Disney/Lucasfilm direction for Star Wars, that said, the idea of Rebels tying in with Episode VII is pretty cool, it is hinted that they’ll be part of the creation of the rebellion. That said, I still think I’d rather see Ahsoka and Galen Marek in the new movies…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
