In a world gone mad with reboots and remakes, we should be greatful that the next Blade Runner movie is at least a sequel.

Although that’s not exactly pleasing everyone.

So we have polarising views… who would have thought?

And, as if to highlight the situation, IGN have chatted to Ryan Gosling, who we know will be in the movie, about how it feels to be in a sequel to one of the greatest movies ever made: “As a fan of the film, the fact that Ridley and Harrison wanted to extend that story and keep going was exciting enough. And then the idea of getting to be an actor involved in that in some way is really… I kinda can’t believe it”.

You can check out the full video below.

However, star of the original movie Rutger Hauer, who played replicant Roy Batty, seems to think that it may not be the best thing to do: “I don’t understand why they’re calling it Blade Runner if they have a new project”, he has said.

“I’m curious what Ridley [Scott, now the sequel’s producer] will do. The director [Denis Villeneuve] is a very interesting director so…Let’s put it this way – I hope it’s better!”

Better than what we’re not sure… the original? Well, we reckon the chances of that are slim to none. That’s not to say it’s not possible to make a superb movie, but the original is top five of all-time material.

In related news,

Swiss actress Carla Juri, who starred in Wetlands, has joined the sequel and will join Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks and Dave Bautista.

We know nothing of who she’s playing or what the story will be but we’e happy that Scott is still involved and the talent is certainly admirable.

Are you a gosling or a Hauer on this one? Let us know…

Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, and Harrison Ford, Blade Runner 2 will be released in cinemas on October 6, 2017.
