Ok, let’s rewind a little. Amazing Spider Man 2 had a decent outing at the box office, all but confirming (at the time), that there would be an Amazing Spider-Man 3. But that was not all! There was also to be a Sinister Six movie, a possible Black Cat spinoff, AND…an Aunt May movie???
Yeah, though widely agreed upon to a “this will never happen ever” rumor, it still persisted. At least until Marvel and Sony agreed to share Spider-Man, thus creating ANOTHER universe wipe. Which meant, Sally Field would not be Aunt May again. And her spinoff movie wouldn’t happen. On the topic of Spider-Man and her “own movie”, Field had this to say.
“it was fun because it was just a great group,” adding that Andrew Garfield was the “most perfect fellow to work with, so I will miss him, but I’ll find him. Aunt May spin off? And make her the lead? What would you do with her?”, she said to the Huffington Post. “She has no special powers whatsoever. She was a housewife waiting for the kids to come home. I think they did that: it was called The Donna Reed Show.”
Ah, from the mouths of Aunt May’s comes wisdom, right?
