Sarah Jessica Parker confirms all the stars are back for Hocus Pocus 2

November 7th, 2019 by Marc Comments

We learned a week before Halloween that a sequel – not a reboot any longer – was coming for Hocus Pocus and now we have more news… exciting news.

On a recent IG post, below, star Sarah Jessica Parker – who played the youngest Sanderson Sister, Sarah, in the original movie, was asked by a fan: “any chance of a sequel?”

And the actress replied: “We have all said yes. Now we wait. X”

It is well known that the 1993 movie was a flop at the time but has since become a fan Halloween favourite, and was famously a fun shoot for all involved.

Star Bette Midler, Winifred in the movie, was recently vocal about her disgust when she found out Disney were planning a reboot rather than a sequel, and it seems Disney noticed that the fans too – of which we at FTN HQ proudly count ourselves a part – were not amused.

The third sister, Mary, was played by Kathy Najimy.

The movie was a Halloween themed adventure that Disney seemed lost over when it came with how to manage it, given it’s dark themes and adult humour in parts.

Also, on the year it was released, they were releasing Henry Selick’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and didn’t want to run the movies against each other and instead released in in July. Against Jurassic Park and The Client.

Smart move, Disney.

But in the years since the movie’s fandom grows and grows – my kids, wife and myself watch it every year without fail and consider it where Halloween really begins –  and the sequel has been called for for some time.

Now word on when we can expect it or what it will be about, but for now, just knowing the Sanderson sisters are out there, lurking, is enough to keep us going.

What say you all? Are you looking forward to this one? Let me know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
