It’s happening! Our girl is coming back! Ready or Not 2 – officially now called Ready or Not: Here I Come – is now filming and our favourite final girl Samara Weaving is being joined by some true horror icons.

First up, Buffy Summers herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, fresh off Dexter: Original Sin and set for Buffy return, has joined the cast along with Sin City and Lord of the Rings’ Elijah Wood along with Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell and horror maestro/director David Cronenberg.

Interstingly, the cast is also rounded out by newly announced Kevin Durand and previously announced Kathryn Newton who both starred in last year’s fun vampire flick Abigail, which filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett aka Radio Silence previously said is set in the same universe as Ready or Not…  are we about to see Sammy and Peter make a return in this highly anticipated sequel? I certainly hope so…

Confirmed: Ready Or Not and Abigail take place in the same world

“We’re thrilled to be returning to the world of Ready or Not, “said Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, “and so excited to work with this immensely talented cast and the incredible artists across every department joining the Ready or Not family.”

Matthew Greenfield, President of Searchlight Pictures, said: “We’re beyond excited to make another film with the phenomenal Radio Silence. With Ready or Not: Here I Come, we get to go on another ride with the amazing Samara Weaving, mix in awesome new voices, and bring audiences a fresh take that’s every bit as twisted and fun as the first one. This is for those who’ve been waiting, and those who didn’t see it coming.”

The camera is rolling, the stars are aligned and we’re getting several generations of horror icons in the Ready or Not sequel… that’s pretty great news, I’d say.

Thoughts? I know you have ’em and I want to hear them.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
