It looks like film-maker M Night Shyamalan and author Nicholas Sparks are uniting for a new novel and film called Remain.
Sparks wrote the book while Shyamalan worked on the screenplay and as of now, Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor will star in the adaptation.
I’m a big confused though, are they companion pieces? A movie and an adaptation? I’d imagine all will become crystal clear in the coming weeks.
Ryan Coogler says his X-Files reboot is next up and teases Gillian Anderson’s return
The story centers on Tate Donovan, a New York architect trying to rebuild his life after a stint in a psychiatric facility, thanks to a spiral triggered by his sister’s death. Looking for a fresh start (and maybe a distraction), he lands in Cape Cod to design a summer home for his bestie. But, of course, things aren’t going to stay neatly drafted. Enter Wren: a mysterious young woman who has Tate questioning everything about his carefully measured, logic-driven existence.
Taking to social media, Shyamalan wrote: “I’m excited to share the cover for the novel version of REMAIN, my upcoming collaboration with @NicholasSparks. The book, written by Nicholas, will be available on 10/7/2025. More news on the film I’m writing and directing coming soon.”
Tremors creators get rights back… want Kevin Bacon to return to franchise
I know Shyamalan has probably more misses than hits at this stage but with Signs and The Sixth Sense forever lingering in ‘top’ movies lists, I will never not give the man a shot.
Thoughts? I know you have them and I want to hear them…
