Edgar Wright’s rather wonderful cult classic Scott Pilgrim Vs the World hits its tenth anniversary this year and it looks like there’s going to be some cool celebrations coming.
Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver’s Wright was on twitter during the week talking about the movie during a Twitter watch-a-long and had some cool news to announce:
Finally, I wanted to make an announcement about the movie… something we were going to do for the 10th anniversary in August… #ScottPilgrim #WatchWithTheAcademy

We were going to do this in August, but make no mistake, this will happen soon. #ScottPilgrim back on the big screen thanks to @DolbyCinema & @UniversalPics. Can’t wait. https://t.co/7ujoTEXFfb

The movie, based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s cult comic seres, was a visual and movie-making triumph – like we expected less from Wright – but sadly it was a commercial disaster at its time of release, not really finding its iconic coolness until it hit home release – my son, 13, is a massive fan of Scott Pilgrim and, obviously he didn’t see it when he was three-years-old.
So, a new theatrical release could potentially be a fun event for the fans the movie has amassed over the years… I know my family will all certainly be there.
But that’s not the only cool bit of cool Pilgrim news we may have on the horizon.
During the same watch-a-long, creator O’Malley tweeted Ubisoft and suggested that it was past time the Scott Pilgrim game, also 10-years-old, and now sadly unlisted, get to finally see the light of day.

And it didn’t go unnoticed by Ubisoft:

Could Ubisoft be teasing the return of the infamous game?
While it’s unclear why the game was pulled from release in 2014, it is likely it was a rights issue of some sort, but now Ubisoft and O’Malley are both showing interest in the game’s revival… and so is Wright:
Do it @Ubisoft ! X https://t.co/yCUCsevSyL

Now, this could amount to nothing, but when the creator, film-maker and game-makers all simultaneously join into a conversation, you can almost rest-assured that this is not a coincidence.
This is a game, which never had a physical release, that I would love to have in my collection and, yes, I’d probably take it to the cinema when I went to see the released movie. Deal with it.
So, what say you all? Are you excited for the big return of Scott Pilgrim? I want to hear your thoughts, gang.
